In what you said about teaching art in this era of fascistic oversight, I was reminded (happily?) that art is no longer vital to the interests of modern, bootjacked dictatorships as it was in the days of Goebbels. Only commerce and the strictly commercial applications of art would fall under their scrutiny.

Yes. That's my assumption.

The only real art with teeth (again) would be "street art," graffiti, used in protest and resistance. No doubt getting caught doing that or walking about with a spray can or stencils would end in one being picked up by the white man in the black van, never to be seen again.

Glad someone got that reference.

Thank you for reading this, man. "Happy" early 4th of July, fellow citizen.

Of course I'm going to get a Steely Dan reference!

Especially off of 'Can't Buy a Thrill' which I put neck and neck with 'John Prine' in my brain's own weird little competition for Best Debut Album Ever.

I'm glad we enjoy the some of the same music and have similar judgments about artists. Quoting and humming "Your Flag Decal Won't Get You Into Heaven Anymore" got me through high school.
